Classic Movie - Forrest Gump

  • Odeon Theater 122 Moody Street Mason, TX, 76856 United States (map)

PG-13 ‧ 1994 ‧ Drama/Romance ‧ 2h 22m

We are excited to launch our free 2022 Classic Movie Nights with one of the all-time great films, Forrest Gump. Included on the American Film Institute’s list of 100 top films of all time, Forrest Gump won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Tom Hanks, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing, in addition to securing wins at the Golden Globes, BAFTA, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. In total, the film received 75 award nominations, securing 50 wins. It became the top-grossing movie in 1994, earning over $678 million during its theatrical run. In 2011, Forrest Gump was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress National Film Registry.

The film chronicles several decades in the life of Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), a simple and kindhearted man, with a low IQ. Never thinking of himself as disadvantaged, and with the unwavering support of his mother (Sally Field), Forrest leads anything but a restricted life. In fact, he witnesses and unwittingly influences several defining historical events in 20th-century America. He inspires people with his childlike optimism but finds the one he cares most about – his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright) – the most difficult to save.

Admission is free for the Odeon’s Classic Movie Nights, but donations are appreciated.
