Thriller/Mystery ‧ PG ‧ 1h 52m ‧ 1954
Our September Classic Movie Night features Rear Window, the 1954 mystery thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey and Raymond Burr. Rear Window is considered by many filmgoers, critics and scholars to be one of Hitchcock’s best films as well as one of the greatest films ever made. It received four Academy Award nominations and is ranked number 42 on the American Film Institute’s “100 Greatest Movies of All Time” list. In 1997, it was added to the United States National Film Registry in the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
In the film, Stewart plays a recuperating news photographer who believes he has witnessed a murder. Confined to a wheelchair after an accident, he spends his time watching the occupants of neighboring apartments through a telephoto lens and binoculars and becomes convinced that a murder has taken place.
The Odeon’s Classic Movie Night is the third Wednesday of each month. Admission is always free but we appreciate your donations, which enable us to continue offering these special movie presentations.
